DOVE COTTAGE, BUDDEN’S FARM

         Rural Retreat in North Dorset

Grade II listed and recently renovated to a very high standard, Dove Cottage lies in the heart of the beautiful Blackmore Vale, immortalized by Thomas Hardy in Tess of the D’Urbervilles.  Situated less than three miles from Shaftesbury, Dove Cottage is ideal for walkers, cyclists and as a centre to explore Salisbury (40 mins by car), Bath (60 mins by car and Park & Ride) and the Jurassic Coast (60 mins to Lulworth Cove).  Longleat, and the Stourhead and Kingston Lacy National Trust properties are in easy reach.

Dove Cottage is attached to the owners’ Budden’s Farm house and is believed to be early Victorian; it is listed in the 1838 Tithe records.  The cottage is full of character and has comfortable living accommodation with 2 bedrooms.

Budden’s Farm is a working smallholding with a Shetland sheep, Gloucester Old Spot pigs and rare breed chickens.  You will soon get used to the vocal cockerel who is active from first light!
